No expectation from Rajnath’s Jammu visit: Farooq

Srinagar, Dec 27: Conference President and Member of Parliament Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said he has no expectation from Minister Rajnath Singh's visit.

Talking to media persons in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said, “I have no expectations from Rajnath Singh's Jammu visit. Can they bring back the dead?”

He said Rajnath Singh will inquire about the death of three civilians, when and how they were killed and will try to visit the victim families to console them.

Three civilians were allegedly killed in Army's custody after a militant attack on an Army convoy at Poonch in which four soldiers were killed.

Farooq hoped that in future such an incident would not take place.

Asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launching a new yatra from Imphal and would his party be a part of it, the NC President said, “Thanks to Almighty, it is a good thing..he (Rahul Gandhi) is trying to unite the whole country”.

“Rahul Gandhi is trying to erase the hatred which has been spread in the name of religion in ..why not be a part of it..we were earlier and will remain”, Farooq added.

To another question, he said that “if there is no way of friendship between the two neighbouring countries India-Pakistan as China is already sitting on our borders and if war breaks out on whom the bombs will drop”?.

He reiterated what former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had said that “neighbours cannot be changed, friends can be changed”.

Farooq said if both Indian and Pakistan become friends both countries will develop.

“Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that war is not an option, it is time of talk”, the former CM said and added “may Almighty bring that time in near future”.
