Srinagar, April 17: Army's Chinar Corps on Saturday hosted an Iftar Party at BB Cantonment here which was attended by people from all walks of life .
The Iftar party was held for the first time after COVID and attended by politicians, police, civil administration officials, social and youth activists, community leaders and religious scholars.
Before Iftar, GoC 15 Corps, Lt Gen DP Pandey addressed the gathering by highlighting the essence of Ramadan.
“Kashmir is known for its values, hospitality and culture. All of us should protect all its values in letter and spirit. We must work for the development and prosperity of Kashmir. Day is not far away when Kashmir will see a new dawn of peace,” affirmed Lt Gen Pandey, dressed magnificently in Kameez Shalwar with a vasket.
Lt Gen Pandey eulogized Ramadan's significance and said that the holy month marks bonhomie, harmony and respect which the Kashmir communities have for each other.
“Hosting Iftar party marks a celebration of our core values of the nation as it epitomises unity in diversity, brotherhood and secularism,” he said. GOC joined the gathering in praying for peace, happiness and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Syed Abdul Latief, Mirwaiz, Central Kashmir addressed the gathering on the occasion.
He said Kashmir has always been blessed with the colours of all religions. “Islam is synonymous with love, peace and humanity. A true believer works towards peace and betterment of the society,” he said.
