Davinder Rana pleads for Pakistan, accuses BJP
Srinagar, June 28:Opposition National Conference (NC) Tuesday walked out of the Lower House of the Legislature, accusing the ruling BJP for creating “war hysteria” in the state by “instigating” Pakistan.
National Conference members said that the “provocative” statements by BJP legislators pricks Pakistan to start ceasefire violations, and puts border residents to risk.
NC MLA from Nagrota Davinder Singh Rana said that ceasefire violation by Pakistan is due to the obstinacy of the BJP.
“Pakistan resorts to the ceasefire violations whenever BJP governments at Central and State make provocative statements. People living in border areas have to bear brunt. They are living in constant fear,” Rana said.
“Ceasefire violation is due to the obstinate attitude of the BJP. They have created war like situation along the border areas,” he added.
Eight CRPF personnel were killed in an attack by LeT militants on Srinagar-Jammu Highway in Pampore.
BJP lawmakers had suggested to bomb army pickets of Pakistan on border.
“This ceasefire violation is in reaction to the statements of the BJP leadership. Whenever BJP leadership in state as well as centre tried to show its 56 inch chest, the people in border areas had to face the repercussions,” Rana said.
Taking dig at the BJP at center and state, Rana said that these statements invite bullets for common people and not leaders.
“The bombing of Pakistan, has not affected Nagpur, but the bullets in its reaction from Pakistan hits only my people. I am accountable to the people of Balakote and other border areas, not you,” said Rana while staging walk out along with other lawmakers of the national conference.
NC MLA from Khanayar constituency, Ali Muhammad Sagar said that instead of instigating neighbouring country, the leaders of BJP must introspect and talk more about peace and friendship.
“You should talk about friendship, love and peace instead of making shallow statements, which bring common people under wrath of ceasefire violations,” Sagar said.
The Lower House later witnessed pandemonium after all the NC MLAs shouted slogans against the government.
Meanwhile, when the NC lawmakers were accusing BJP led government of disturbing peace in the state, the legislators of Bhartiya Janta Party reacted and alleged NC of employing ‘soft policy' towards Pakistan and militants.
“The National Conference had adopted soft policy towards Pakistan, owing to which all this is happening. BJP will not tolerate anything and will retaliate with double might, if Pakistan dared to create any disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir and India,” Ravinder Raina, BJP lawmaker said.
He was supported by other BJP MLAs.
Speaker Kavinder Gupta said that such statements prove that BJP has no flexible approach towards Pakistan.
“It is a matter of pride that central government led by BJP has no flexible approach towards terrorism breeding countries,” Speaker said.
Amid ruckus, all the legislators from NC staged walkout from the House and shouted slogans against the government. (KNS)
