Srinagar, Sep 8: The militants attacked Pulwama police station in the early hours of Thursday.
Police said there were exchange of fire between the militants and the police for around 15 minutes after which the militants escaped.
A police official told that militants attacked the Pulwama police station with grenades and automatic gunfire in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
“Firing exchanges started immediately after the attack between the police and the militants,” the officer said.
No one was hurt during the firing exchange, he said, adding that the militants managed to flee from the spot.
Shortly after the incident, police cordoned off the area to flush out the militants, however according to reports no arrest was made during the search operation.
Militant outfit Tehreek-ul-Mujadheen (TeM) Thursday claimed the responsibility of Pulwama attack. The outfit in a statement to a local news agency said that police station Pulwama was attacked with grenades and automatic weapons.,” the spokesperson of the outfit said.
He added that instead of protecting civilians, if Kashmir policemen will target them, they can't escape from the wrath of militants and people.
