Militant killed in Pulwama encounter

SRINAGAR: A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in south district of Pulwama today, official sources said.

They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants, security forces and State police launched a joint search operation at Kakpora in Pulwama. However, when the security forces were sealing the area, militants hiding there opened fire with automatic weapons. Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce clash, a militant was killed.

The operation was going on when the reports last came in, they said, adding the identity of the slain militant was being ascertained.
