Jammu, Jan 23: The **Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra** was suspended on Friday as **heavy rain and snowfall** continued across Jammu and Kashmir, disrupting normal life and prompting authorities to take precautionary measures in the interest of public safety.
Officials said the pilgrimage was halted in **Katra** due to adverse weather conditions. Pilgrims have been advised to stay back in the base town, and **no yatri will be allowed to proceed from the base camp to the shrine until further orders**.
The inclement weather has affected several parts of the Union Territory, with authorities closely monitoring the situation and urging people to follow official advisories to avoid any untoward incident.
