Manjit accuses JPDC officials harrassing people, seeks action

Tawi: Seeking intervention of Lt Governor J&K, Manoj Sinha against the Govt officials, Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, Manjit Singh today criticized Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) for abruptly disconnecting the electricity connection of the power consumers in Jammu City.

“The JPDCL has been working in a wayward manner by disconnecting the electricity connection of its consumers in Jammu City's many areas without serving any show cause notices or prior information to the consumers,” said Manjit Singh in a meeting that was organized here at Apni Party Office in Jammu.

The meeting had threadbare discussion regarding emerging power crises in Jammu City due to which residentials colonies have been compelled to forced power cuts for long hours.

“These residential areas face electricity cuts without justification, and the unilateral action from the JPDCL without providing an opportunity to the consumers to explain their side,” he said.

“The JPDCL has taken extreme steps that amount to unjustified harassment and against the law. The Apni Party will come on the roads and hold protests if the harassment of power consumers is not stopped,” he added.

He further demanded the supply of 24/7 electricity during these harsh winter seasons.

The meeting was attended by Provincial General Secretary, Legal Wing, Kuldeep Sudan, Provincial Vice President Women Wing, Neelam Gupta, Provincial Vice President Transport Union, Devinder Gill, Provincial Vice President Youth Wing, Joginder Singh, Provincial Secretary Women Wing, Seethal Sharma, District General Secretary, Deepak Bradoo, District Youth President, Jammu, Shivam Choudhary, District President Minority Wing, Jammu, Dalbir Singh, Surdesh Kumar, Anil Singh, K.R.
