NEW DELHI, Mar 16: Faisal Nadeem, also known as Abu Qatal, a senior operative of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was killed in Pakistan on Saturday night. Qatal, one of India’s most wanted terrorists, was involved in multiple terror activities and had close associations with Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Qatal was one of the three Pakistan-based LeT handlers charged by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the deadly Rajouri attacks in January 2023. These attacks, which targeted civilians in Dhangri, Rajouri, resulted in the deaths of seven people, including two children, and several others were injured.
The NIA’s charge sheet, which was part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in Jammu and Kashmir, also implicated Saifullah alias Sajid Jutt and Mohd Qasim, the other two handlers involved in the recruitment and deployment of LeT terrorists. The attacks were carried out under their direction, targeting both civilians, especially from the minority community, and security personnel.
The case has been registered as RC-01 & 02/2023/NIA/JMU, and the NIA has continued to focus on eliminating the LeT network in the region.
