Notwithstanding government’s consistent approach to improve education system in the far flung areas, the residents of Nalla Panchayat have raised concerns over the condition of the Girls Government Primary School situated in Ward no. 1 of the area, alleging that the institution is facing several infrastructural and basic facility-related problems affecting students and teachers alike.
According to locals, the school building requires urgent maintenance, as it was declared unsafe by the concerned authorities more than a year ago.
“There are issues related to drinking water, sanitation, boundary fencing and classroom facilities, which continue to trouble the students, as after declaring the building more than a year ago, the school is functioning from a make-shift arrangement,” said sources, adding “Despite repeated appeals to the concerned authorities, adequate attention has not been given to improving the condition of the school.
They also expressed concern over the surrounding environment and lack of proper connectivity to the school, especially during adverse weather conditions and alleged that despite flow of funds, the infrastructure remained unchanged, while property and assets of some political leaders grew manifold.
“Students are facing difficulties in attending regular classes,” said villagers, demanding immediate intervention from the Education Minister, since she also knows how political differences has spoiled development in Nala Panchayat.
Talking to The Northlines, local residents appealed to the district administration and education authorities to visit the school and assess the ground situation. They urged the government to ensure better educational facilities for children studying in rural areas.
They further emphasized that quality education and proper infrastructure are essential for the future of children and demanded that the pending issues be resolved at the earliest.
