KVK organizes training prog

, Dec 14: Sher-e- University of Agricultural Sciences and -Jammu(SKUAST-J) organised one day long training programme on “ Strategies to double the farmers' income by 2022” here at remote village Dhaman of Thuroo block in Reasi district of J&K which was attended by a large number of tribal farmers of the area. The programme was organized under the guidance of Associate Director Extension (ADE) & Incharge of KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr.R.K.Arora. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal, initiated the programme with the warm welcome of the farmers. He said that the farmers can double their farm income by adopting the new technologies recommended by the KVK. He added that KVK is making strenuous efforts to double the farmers by 2022 by providing the technological backstopping to the farmers of the farmers of the hilly areas. He elaborated the different technologies to increase the crops production and stressed on the post-production systems by which the income can be enhanced. He guided the farmers on scientific cultivation of Rabi crops and urged them to adopt the modern agricultural practices. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi guided the farmers on advance horticulture and stressed on the new varieties of fruit crops. He also guided the farmers on insect-pests and disease management in different crops. He narrated that the climate-smart is an integrative approach to address the interlinked challenges of food security and climate change that explicitly aims to sustainably increase the agricultural productivity which further can increase the income of the farmers. The KVK has also laid Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on improved varieties of Rabi crops in the village. In this programme many quarries were raised by the farmers which the KVK scientist answered in a very satisfactorily way. The programme was assisted by Sh. Manohar Lal and Sh. Md.Iqbal and concluded by Dr.Banarsi Lal with vote of thanks.
