KVK organizes Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e- University of Agricultural Sciences and -Jammu (SKUAST-J) organizes Swachhata Pakhwada campaign at Govt. Middle School, Tanda of Reasi district in which more than 90 school children and teachers have participated. The programme was organized under the guidance of Associate Director Extension (ADE) and I/C KVKs of SKUAST-J Dr. R.K. Arora. Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi ,Dr.Banarsi Lal warmly welcomed the participants and gave a detailed view on Swachhata Pakhwada. He appealed everyone to become a part of this campaign and make efforts to clean the school and village vicinities so that the drive of clean can be successful. He said that this campaign is India's biggest cleanness drive which was formally launched by PM of India Sh. Narinder Modi on 2nd of October 2014.He discussed on the teachings of Mahatma Ghandi on cleanliness and hygiene. He urged the students to keep their school and villages clean and green and emphasized on the cleaning of drinking water areas, toilets etc.
He said the participants that this campaign can reduce disease infestation in human beings, animals and crops. He elaborated the disadvantages of open defecation and suggested the participants to construct toilets in their homes and eliminate open defecation. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, KVK scientist guided the techniques for solid and liquid wastes management in the villages and suggested the participants to be committed towards cleanness derive and devote time of 100 hours per year for this drive of cleanness. He also urged the partipants to not pollute the Banganga and Chenab rivers and village heritage. The programme was assisted by Sh. Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal with formal vote of thanks.
