Khelo India J&K Wushu League concludes

Srinagar, Sept 08: Two-day Khelo Wushu Women's League competition, involving 700 girls from 15 districts of J&K, concluded at SKISC Srinagar today.

Safina Beigh, DDC Baramulla was the chief guest, who distributed medals among the winners in the presence of guest of honour, Secretary J&K Council (JKSC), Nuzhat Gul.

The chief guest, congratulated Secretary JKSCC and Wushu Association of J&K for engaging the youth in sports. She was all praise  for the  Wushu Association  for engaging female athletes in the game.

Speaking to the gathering, the Secretary JKSCC, informed that Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Kuldeep Handoo ( Chief Coach) from J&K have been made part of the Indian Wushu team heading for 19th Asian Games scheduled to be held in Hangzhou (China) from September 23.

She termed the Women's league a great initiative of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) which really boost the women folk in the Indian sport.

She congratulated Wushu Association of J&K for conducting , mega events in , including that of India camp for the Asian Games.

Khelo India is the scheme of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Earlier 24 Khelo India State Wushu Women's League championships organised across the country in August last. Zonal and National League Wushu championships will be organised before December 2023. Prizes worth Rs 60 Lakhs will be disbursed among the winning women athletes in all division of the country.

Among others present were Maqsood Rather, Mohd Iqbal, Kamal Kishore, Faisal Dar, Ajaz Hassan, Ajaz Ahmed Palla and Mudasir Ahmed.

Secretary, Bhavneet congratulated the organising committee for the successful event.  They also thanked Wushu Association of India, SAI and JKSC for the immense support and making this mega event a great success.
