Jammu Tawi: Senior leader Chander Mohan Sharma has extended heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways and Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, for ensuring the inclusion of the Kashmiri language in the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) framework.
The development came after two young filmmakers from Jammu & Kashmir — Siddarth Koul and Ankit Wali, producers of the feature film “Batt Koch” under VR Searchkashmir Films LLP — approached Sharma Ji, highlighting that the Kashmiri language was missing from the CBFC certification options.
Recognizing the importance of linguistic and cultural preservation, Sharma immediately took up the matter with Ashwini Vaishnaw, who acted swiftly. Within a day, the CBFC officially added Kashmiri to its certification system — a move widely hailed as a milestone for the region’s creative industry.
The decision was personally conveyed to Sh. Chander Mohan Sharma by Rajender Singh, CEO, Film Censor Board.
Calling it a “proud moment for Jammu & Kashmir,” Sharma Ji said the inclusion would encourage local filmmakers and artists to showcase the region’s cultural richness. He thanked the Union Minister for his proactive intervention and congratulated the young filmmakers for their contribution to promoting Kashmiri art and identity.
