Jammu Tawi, Aug 2: A delegation of eleven members of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) led by S. Gurdev Singh, President called on Divisional Commissioner, Dr Pawan Kotwal and discussed with him the problems confronting DPs of 1947 from POK which has never being taken up seriously by the administration as well as the Govt. and their legitimate issue of settlement was delayed and remained unresolved from the last 7 decades. He presented the DP's viewpoint and their reservations regarding the Rs 2000 crore announced package by Prime Minister and urged to stress upon the State Govt. to mount pressure on GOI for early release of the funds. Gurdev Singh apprised Divisional Commissioner about the grievances and reservation of DPs about the Rs 2000 crore package which has not been sanctioned by GOI despite a lapse of 9 month's period.
He further apprised Sh. Kotwal that there are more than 5000 families having deficiency in their allotted lands and were left out for not opting to avail the package recommended in 2000 August by GOI to compensate DPs in lieu of their having deficiency in land. The left out families did not opt for the benefit under the conditions imposed by the govt. to furnish an affidavit duly attested by Munsif Magistrate that this claim would be full and final.
Pawan Kotwal (Div. Comm.) listened the delegation very patiently and appreciated JKSAC activities and decades old struggle for the settlement and upliftment of DP's and assured to convey all the issues raised in the memorandum to the govt. to mitigate their sufferings.Members of the delegation were Master Yograj, Harbans Singh, Rajesh Raju, Sub. Daulat Ram, Gurcharan Singh Billa, Harjeet Singh, Parvesh Kumar, Makhan Singh, Rakesh Gupta, Om Prakash Tohra.
