JKCA warns against dealings with suspended President

Says post-suspension transactions by Javid Kitab will be treated as unauthorised

Srinagar, Jun 27: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Saturday issued a public notice declaring that its suspended president, Javid Ahmad Kitab, no longer has the authority to act on behalf of the Association and that any transactions or commitments made by him after his suspension would be treated as unauthorised.

The notice, issued by the JKCA Apex Council, stated that Kitab had been placed under interim suspension through a resolution passed by the Council and had ceased to exercise any powers, functions or responsibilities attached to the office of president pending further proceedings under the Association’s Constitution.

“It is hereby notified for the information of all members, affiliated clubs, players, officials, stakeholders, financial institutions, governmental authorities, service providers and the general public that Javid Ahmad Kitab stands placed under interim suspension from the office of President, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), pursuant to a resolution duly passed by the Apex Council of the Association,” the notice said.

JKCA cautioned all stakeholders that any communication, instruction, assurance, appointment, authorisation, financial transaction, contractual arrangement, banking operation, administrative decision or other action purportedly undertaken by Kitab on behalf of the Association after the effective date of his suspension would be considered to have been made in his personal capacity and without the authority of JKCA.

The Association further stated that it would not be bound by, nor incur any financial, contractual, legal or administrative liability arising from any such actions undertaken by Kitab after his suspension.

The notice warned that any person, institution, bank, authority, vendor, contractor or stakeholder dealing with Kitab in matters relating to JKCA following his suspension would do so at their own risk, adding that the Association would bear no responsibility for such dealings.

JKCA said the public notice had been issued in the interest of transparency, good governance and safeguarding the Association’s institutional and financial interests.
