Ruckus in JK Assembly over Muslim Free India remark

Srinagar, June 9: Sadhvi Prachi's Muslim Free statement has found the wrath of many in J&K Assembly for as soon as the lower house resumed, Opposition lawmakers stood from their seats and demanded clarification from PDP-BJP Government.

The attack was led by Lawmaker M Y Tarigami asking the government to clear it's stand on the controversial remarks. Talking to Speaker, Tarigami said, “India belongs to everyone.”

It is pertinent to mention that at a rally in Uttar Pradesh, Sadhvi Prachi had said, “The time has come to make Muslim Free India.”

Conference, Congress members joined by Er Rasheed and Hakeem Yasin, the lawmakers condemned the statement by Sadhvi Prachi.

To mollify the concerns of the opposition, Dy CM and BJP senior member, Dr Nirmal Singh, said, “India is a secular state; people from every community live here.”

The Dy CM further said that though press has highlighted the statement but the authenticity of the content is yet to be verified. However, the opposition did not stand down at this statement and wanted a official condemnation of the ‘communal statement.'
