Jammu, Oct 8: The pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine resumed on Wednesday morning after being suspended for three days following an adverse weather advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Officials said that with the weather improving, the yatra restarted smoothly, and the helicopter service also resumed normal operations.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board confirmed the development on X, stating, “As already communicated, all Yatra registration counters shall remain operational on October 8, 2025, from 6:00 AM onwards.” The board also advised devotees to stay updated through official channels.
The pilgrimage had remained suspended from October 5 to 7 due to continuous rain and the IMD’s warning of inclement weather.
Earlier, the yatra was halted on August 26 following heavy rains that triggered a massive landslide near the Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Adhkuwari, killing 34 people, mostly pilgrims. The pilgrimage later resumed on September 17 after restoration work.
Following the tragedy, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who chairs the Shrine Board, constituted a high-level three-member committee to investigate the causes of the landslide. (Agencies)
