Jammu, Jan 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted District-Level Monitoring Committees across all districts to strengthen mental health protection and prevent suicides among students.
According to a government order issued by the General Administration Department, the committees will function at the district level to monitor, coordinate and implement measures aimed at safeguarding students’ mental well-being.
Each committee will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district. The Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer and a representative from civil society will serve as members.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring early identification of mental health issues among students and facilitating timely intervention through coordinated efforts of the education, health and social welfare departments.
