JK Govt buys time to issue instructions
May 5th guidelines to extend till May 19th
Northlines Correspondent | May 17: Jammu Kashmir has ordered the lockdown guidelines issued by Govt on May 5 to remain valid till May 19, 2020
The Chief Secretary has stated in the order that delineation of Red, Orange and Green zones is required to be done in Jammu Kashmir meanwhile the guidelines which were already issued on May 3, 2020 would apply till May 19th 2020. The delineation is required to evaluate the areas where zone specific activities will be allowed, restricted or prohibited in the union territory of Jammu Kashmir.
The Chief under section 24 of DMA 2005 has extended the existing guidelines to regulate the lockdown till May 19th, 2020.
The National Disaster Management Authority vide its order number 1-29/2020-PP dated 17-05-2020 today extended nationwide lockdown till May 31st 2020.
The broader guidelines were issued today by Ministry of Home Affairs for regulation of the extended lockdown. The same required demarcation of Red, Orange and Green Zones as the guidelines contain allowed and prohibited activities for the people according to the zones they fall under.
The Jammu Kashmir administration had earlier put Jammu under red zone along with other districts. Now with such demarcations of zones already existing, what has kept the Jammu Kashmir Government from issuing fresh guidelines? Are there information calibration issues?
The Jammu Kashmir administration was also seen limping when the whole country allowed easing or lifting restrictions zone-wise.
