Jammu, June 09: Two prominent fencers from J&K, who presently train at Khelo India Centre of Excellence outside the UT, have been selected to part of the pool of players shortlisted for the upcoming international events, including prestigious Asian Games in China.
As per the details shared by the convenor adhoc committee for Fencing in J&K. constituted by the Fencing Association of India (FAI), Rashid Ahmed these players are Vishal Thappar and Rishika Khajuira.
“Both Thappar and Rishika shortlisted during the selection trials conducted at Delhi on June five by the FAI. Besides Asian Games, the selected players will be considered for the Asian Fencing championship and World Fencing Championship,” informed Rashid.
Prior to their selection at the Centre of Excellence outside J&K, both these players as young fencers trained by the coaches of J&K Sports Council (JKSC) at the MA Stadium facility, here.
