Srinagar, Jan 17: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Kashmir, has exposed a fake government job racket and registered a case against a former police employee for allegedly duping multiple aspirants of nearly ₹23 lakh by issuing forged appointment orders and documents.
According to an official statement, the case was registered after the EOW received a written complaint alleging that the accused cheated innocent people on the pretext of providing government employment. The complainants said the ex-police employee collected about ₹23 lakh by making false promises of jobs.
The accused allegedly issued fake appointment orders and supplied forged documents, including identity cards, licenses, appointment letters, and fabricated police and CID verification reports, the statement said.
Following receipt of the complaint, the EOW, Srinagar, initiated a preliminary probe. The inquiry found the allegations to be prima facie substantiated. Investigators revealed that the accused systematically cheated job seekers of their hard-earned money by issuing fake job orders under false assurances of government employment.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the EOW registered a case at Police Station Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar, under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). Further investigation is underway. (KNC)
