Intel launches developer program to optimize over 300 AI features on PCs by 2024

Date:

Intel is taking major steps to advance AI development on PCs with the launch of a new initiative aimed at optimizing over 300 AI features by 2024. Called the AI PC Acceleration Program, the new program will provide tools and resources needed for software developers, ISVs and IHVs to maximize AI functionality on Intel-powered notebooks and PCs.

By partnering with over 150 hardware manufacturers and introducing these AI enhancements across over 230 global PC designs, Intel expects to bring transformative AI capabilities to more than 100 million Intel Core Ultra computers by 2025. The program strives to facilitate seamless AI integration and development through integrated developer support systems, software optimization solutions and specialized AI hardware like Intel's latest Core Ultra processors with dedicated neural processing units (NPUs).

The Core Ultra chips leverage an NPU for efficient handling of AI tasks while maintaining high performance at low power consumption. The GPU assists with data-intensive AI processing, and the CPU handles real-time processing. Developers accepted into the program gain access to the Intel OpenVINO toolkit and AI/ML tools, in addition to training opportunities to learn the latest techniques. Hardware vendors also receive help optimizing and testing upcoming technologies.

Major partners including Adobe, Blackmagic Design and game developers are already updating applications and games to maximize the intelligent features enabled by Intel's newest PC silicon. With the new acceleration program, Intel aims to drive the next generation of AI innovation across a wide range of devices and experiences. If successful, the initiative could help usher in an era of unprecedented intelligent computing capabilities.
