Jammu Tawi: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu inaugurated the fourth batch of the Nurturing Future Leadership Program on Monday, under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The inaugural session took place at the institute’s permanent campus in Jagti, marking another milestone in its commitment to fostering academic excellence and leadership development.
The Nurturing Future Leadership Program is a unique residential initiative aimed at developing leadership skills among educators across India. It seeks to create a pool of potential leaders who can drive generational transitions in educational institutions. The program, running from 16th to 20th December 2024, will be conducted by IIM Jammu’s faculty and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The fourth batch consists of 29 participants from various institutes across the country.
The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by the welcome address by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu. He emphasized the importance of leadership in academia, praising the Ministry of Education’s initiative to cultivate academic leaders as agents of positive change. In addition to Prof. Sahay, other notable speakers included Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Program Director and Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu; and Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Program Director, IIM Jammu. Dr. Shaikh welcomed the participants, providing an overview of the program’s objectives and IIM Jammu’s Executive Education initiatives. Dr. Burhan highlighted the learning and networking opportunities offered by the program, sharing insights about the institute’s growth and its status as a vibrant hub for academic excellence.
The residential program will cover four broad themes: leadership, communication, skill development, and recent government initiatives. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Niti Shekhar, Program Director, IIM Jammu. The inaugural event concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a campus tour for the participants, marking the start of what promises to be a highly enriching leadership development experience.
