HP set to gain unconditional EU approval for $14 billion Juniper acquisition
In a major deal to strengthen its networking business, tech giant Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is expected to receive clearance from European regulators for its $14 billion takeover of Juniper Networks. Sources familiar with the ongoing review process have indicated that the European Commission is likely to green light the transaction without requiring any concessions.
The merger was announced earlier this year as companies look to expand and develop new solutions amid rising demand for artificial intelligence-powered services. If approved by August 1 as scheduled, the combination would unite two industry leaders looking to better serve customers in an increasingly connected world.
As the deadline nears, HPE is understood to have emphasised Juniper’s small market share compared to networking powerhouse and rival Cisco. This is aimed at alleviating concerns over decreased competition in the region. UK regulators are also assessing the deal before a mid-August decision.
Should antitrust approval come as anticipated, it would mark another step forward in HPE’s efforts to combine forces with Juniper and strengthen its end-to-end product portfolio. The acquisition underscores how technology heavyweights are continually adapting to remain on the cutting edge of innovation.
