Govt. should not scuttle investments in Jammu while pressing investors for Kashmir

Tawi, March 18 (KIP):- Why the previous attempts made by the successive chief ministers for attracting investment from big houses in Jammu and did not yield results? Primarily the failure in attracting investment for Jammu and Kashmir has been the fluid security scenario couple with activities of militants. Yes, there were some business houses keen to invest on various projects in the Jammu region but the successive state authorities discouraged them telling them to open their units in Kashmir for which they were not ready. For another time Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has met the leaders of country's industry in Mumbai and discussed the opportunities of doing business in Jammu and Kashmir. She informed the industry leaders that with thrust being laid on improved road and air connectivity and institutional capacity building, the level of ease in doing business in J&K had enhanced exponentially. She told the industry leaders that by investing in the state, they would not only be contributing to the creation of job avenues for the local youth but also winning trust of the local people. It is hoped that the PDP-BJP coalition Government will not discourage those who wish to set up units in Jammu and there should be no embargo on this. Yes, Kashmir could prove a favouite spot for the businessmen to set up units but the coalition Government has to restore peace to the valley if it want s investors to invest on setting up industrial units. If a score of major industrial houses set up units in the state it would resolve the problem of unemployment and hence Jammu should not be debarred from industrial activities.(KIP)
