    Govt constructs 1,363 kms of NHs in J&K, Ladakh over 5 years

    Srinagar, Dec 12: Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh together have witnessed the construction of 1,363 kilometers of National Highways between 2019 and till November this year, according to official data.

    This includes 1,245 kilometers in Jammu & Kashmir and 118 kilometers in Ladakh. In 2024-25 (till November 2024), 128 kilometers of highways were constructed in Jammu & Kashmir, while Ladakh witnessed a completion of 50 kilometers.

    In 2023-24, 243 kilometers were constructed in Jammu & Kashmir and 81 kilometers in Ladakh.

    The previous year, 2022-23, saw 217 kilometers in Jammu & Kashmir and 51 kilometers in Ladakh.

    In 2021-22, Jammu & Kashmir recorded 263 kilometers of highway construction. The year 2020-21 saw 234 kilometers built in Jammu & Kashmir and 7 kilometers in Ladakh.

    In 2019-2020, Jammu & Kashmir completed 46 kilometers of highway, while Ladakh saw 4 kilometers built.

    The government remains committed to enhancing road infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, as part of its broader development efforts for these regions.

    “With a focus on improving connectivity and supporting economic growth, the government has been consistently investing in road construction projects, aiming to build modern and durable road networks,” the government said.

    It said that the government is focused on creating a sustainable road network that will contribute to the long-term development of these regions.
