GeM CEO P K Singh said the procurement has crossed Rs 4 trillion and that the procurement of services from the portal has jumped from Rs 66,000 crore in 2022-23 to Rs 2.05 trillion so far in FY24.
The procurement of goods and services through the centre’s Government e-Market (GeM) portal has crossed Rs 4 trillion so far this fiscal as buying activities by various ministries and departments have picked up pace, a senior government official said on Friday, March 29.
Currently, government departments, ministries, public sector units (PSUs), state governments, and central armed police forces are allowed to carry out transactions through this portal. The portal provides a wide range of products from office stationery to vehicles. Automobiles, computers, and office furniture are some of the major product categories that are purchased by the government bodies for their use.
