The recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district that claimed seven innocent lives has been strongly condemned by local leaders. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary expressed dismay over the tragedy and assured that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators.
While addressing reports, Mr. Choudhary said such violent acts aimed at disrupting peace have unfortunately occurred before election times in the past as well. He acknowledged that the security situation needs improvement and assured that efforts are underway in that direction. Extending condolences to the bereaved families, the deputy CM said the loss of lives, including that of a doctor, is deeply saddening.
The terrorist assault occurred on Sunday when unknown attackers launched an attack on a tunnel construction site along the strategic Srinagar-Leh highway in Ganderbal. A group of labourers and staff members had returned to their camp in the evening when the militants suddenly opened fire, leaving seven people dead on the spot.
Director General of Police as well as Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor of J&K have taken cognizance of the heinous crime. While strict action against the perpetrators is being ensured, Mr. Choudhary said it may take time but the administration is committed to restoring complete peace in the valley. Local leaders also voiced strong opposition to such violent tactics aimed at derailing democracy. The grieving families have been offered heartfelt condolences and support during these difficult times.
