Efforts on to bring stranded Indian jawan back from PoK: Manohar Parrikar

Pune: Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday asserted that efforts are on to bring back the stranded Indian jawan from Pakistan occupied (PoK) and said the Centre has activated the procedure which takes place at the Director General Military Operations (DGMO) level.

“There is a standard mechanism for that. We exchange those people after enquiry who had inadvertently gone there by mistake. The procedure takes place at the DGMO level. We have activated that,” Parrikar told the media at the sidelines of the Swachhta rally.

Calling on the nation to be alert, Parrikar added that people should report it to the police if they notice any suspicious activity anywhere.

A soldier from 37 RR with weapon inadvertently crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control on September 29.

Pakistan has been informed by the DGMO on the hotline. Such inadvertent crossing by Army and civilians are not unusual on either side. They are returned through existing mechanisms.
