    Srinagar, Jan 13 (KNS): Stating that the central government is committed in making Jammu and Kashmir a progressive state, Union Health Minister JP Nadda said that health sector has been flagged as one of the most important sectors in the Jammu and Kashmir's development policy.

    The union minister also said that centre is committed to provide all assistance and resources to the Jammu and Kashmir in achieving best outcomes. “Our government is committed in putting its best foot forward and helping Jammu and Kashmir move on the path of progress,” JP Nadda told.

    He said that the Centre has already raises the level of funding for the health sector in Jammu and Kashmir in cooperation and coordination with the state government, keeping in mind the objective of providing state-of-the-art medical services and facilities to people living in the remotest and smallest towns of the state.

    The union minister maintained that Prime Ministers dream is to ensure that the quality of healthcare becomes better not only in primary, but also in all secondary and tertiary hospitals. “The main mandate of the health department is to ensure that every person has access to quality, equitable and affordable healthcare, whether it is in an urban or a rural area” he added.

    He said that the priority is being given to the healthcare sector in Jammu and Kashmir can be gauged by the fact that the Centre has approved the setting up of two All Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the region. “The union government is serious about the overall development of the Jammu and Kashmir. A sum of Rs.4, 000 crores has been earmarked for the purpose of AIMS in the state under the Prime Minister's reconstruction package for the state,” he said.

    He said that the state government is vigorously working toward betterment of all sector including the health sector. “As for as central government is concerned it is committed to give all possible help to the state,” Nada said.

    Praising state government, the Union minister said that the PDP-BJP government is fully designing and implementing programes and schemes of the centre for the benefit of the masses.

    He added that the various health care projects are under implementation in the State. “During the last one and half year's tremendous expansion and consolidation has been achieved in Jammu and Kashmir, besides providing specialists and paramedics in the hospitals and health centres,” the minister said.
