The night sky over Jammu has changed. Once filled with the hum of life, it now carries the sound of sirens, intercepted drones, and distant blasts. The sighting of Pakistani drones in Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot sectors has shaken the region once again. The hostile action — clearly a deliberate provocation — has not just breached our skies but has attempted to stir fear in our streets and homes.
India’s Air Defence units responded swiftly, intercepting multiple drones and neutralizing the threat. But the psychological impact has been deep. Blackouts were enforced across large swathes of Jammu, Akhnoor, Udhampur, and parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The aim: to minimize visibility for enemy surveillance and protect civilian lives. Yet, the sudden darkness and sounds of explosions in places like Samba sent waves of panic through the region.
Jammu plunged into chaos. There were traffic snarls on evacuation routes, long queues at fuel stations, and empty shelves in grocery stores. Social media was flooded with rumours, photos of darkened cities, and desperate questions. And amid it all, one voice called for reason — the Chief Minister’s. Omar Abdullah’s timely advisory, urging people to stay indoors and avoid unverified information, was a reminder that calm is a form of resistance too.
The threat from across the border is real. From the Pahalgam attack to cross-border shelling and now drone incursions — Pakistan is clearly trying to destabilize Jammu & Kashmir. But we must not let panic do what enemy drones could not: break our unity and courage.
The administration is active. Defence forces are alert. Helplines are open, hospitals are on standby. What is needed now is not fear — but faith.
Let us remember: fear is contagious, but so is calm. Rumours spread fast, but truth and vigilance are stronger. In these testing hours, let Jammu respond not with panic buying or mass evacuations but with discipline, dignity, and solidarity.
We’ve faced terror before. We’ve endured tension before. This time too, we will get through together.
