Doda Sport Climbing Champ on Mar 19

, Mar  13: The 1st Doda District Sport Climbing Championship shall be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK) in collaboration with Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here on Mar 19.

About 100 climbers from various institutions of Doda district are likely to vie for honors in the maiden competition exclusively for Doda district. However, individual climbers from Doda and Kishtwar district have been participating in the State/UT competitions for the last couple of years.

The competitions to be conducted on the pre fabricated 40ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in Sprawling Buds ICSE School campus shall be held in eight categories of Men, Women (born in 2006 and earlier), Boys, Girls (born in 2007, 2008 and 2009); Sub Junior Boys / Girls (born in 2010 and 2011) and Mini Boys/Girls (born in 2012 and after).

The competitions in all the categories shall be held in ‘Lead Climbing' only. However, there shall be demonstrations in speed climbing by climbers at the time of inauguration of the championship.

For further information interested climbers and institutions should contact the general secretary of MAJK, Shawetica Khajuria (7006099855) on or before March 16. On the spot registration shall also be done at Sprawling Buds ICSE School from 8 am to 8.30 am on March 19.

Whereas Shawetica Khajuria, an international judge in sport climbing shall be the president of the jury, Shivani Charak, an international sport climber is the organising secretary of the competition. She shall be supported by other international, and senior sport climbers of the Association.
