Jammu Tawi: Sunil Dimple, president of Mission Statehood, led a strong protest rally in Jammu alongside unemployed educated youths, demanding the Union BJP government’s intervention to address the rising unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir. The rally, which took place on Janipur High Court Road amidst heavy rain, blocked traffic as protesters voiced their frustration over the government’s failure to resolve unemployment issues in the region for the past decade.
Dimple, speaking at the rally, criticized the current administration for the absence of a fully functioning Jammu and Kashmir state. He pointed out that key powers were concentrated in the hands of the Home Minister, Lieutenant Governor (LG), and Chief Secretary (CS), leaving little room for the local government to operate effectively.
“The Chief Minister and the elected government cannot function smoothly due to the presence of two power centers in Jammu and Kashmir,” Dimple warned, urging the Union government to restore the state’s full status. He demanded that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah fill all vacant posts in various departments and ensure that JKSSB posts are advertised promptly to address the growing staff shortages.
Dimple also raised concerns over the rising unemployment rate in the region, which currently stands at 42%, the highest in India. He called for age relaxation in the recruitment of police sub-inspectors and the regularization of numerous categories of daily wage workers, including Rehbrey Khel, Janglat, Sehat workers, SPOs, Anganwadi workers, and others.
Additionally, Dimple urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister to fulfill their previous commitments to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. He also demanded that the political leadership, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, nominate representatives for Rajya Sabha and hold Local Body and Panchayat elections immediately.
The rally was supported by youth leaders such as Rupesh Bhat, Sachin Soi, Sat Sharma, Bunty Dogra, and Ashok Kumar, who joined Dimple in voicing their demands for employment and political reform in the region.
