    Cyber-crime cases cross 1 lakh in 2024; J&K records 114, Ladakh one: MHA

    Jammu Tawi, Jul 21: Cyber crime cases across the country crossed the one-lakh mark in 2024, with the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) registering 1,01,928 cases, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

    Replying to an unstarred question in Parliament, the Ministry said Jammu and Kashmir recorded 114 cyber-crime cases in 2024, compared to 185 in 2023, while Ladakh reported one case during the year.

    According to the NCRB figures, J&K registered 120 cases in 2020, 154 in 2021, 173 in 2022, 185 in 2023 and 114 in 2024, whereas Ladakh reported one, five, three, one and one case respectively during the same period.

    The Ministry informed Parliament that the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has launched the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS). Till June 30, 2026, the system has helped save more than ₹11,158 crore in over 32.80 lakh complaints. From 2021 to 2025, more than 65.89 lakh financial fraud complaints involving over ₹55,050 crore were reported, while more than ₹8,189 crore was marked under lien and over 1.95 lakh FIRs were registered.

    The Centre said it has strengthened cyber crime investigation through initiatives including the Samanvaya platform, Sahyog portal, Joint Cyber Coordination Teams, CyTrain training portal, Cyber Commando programme, National-Digital Investigation Support Centres and financial assistance of ₹132.93 crore to States and Union Territories for cyber forensic infrastructure and capacity building.
