CUJ organizes lecture on life of Swami Vivekananda

Tawi, July 4: The Swami Vivekanand Chair of Central University of Jammu (CUJ) today organized a lecture on the life and philosophy of Swami Vivekanand, in the auditorium hall of Temporary Academic Block Sainik Colony.

Retired Justice GD Sharma was Chief Guest on the occasion, while as Prof. Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator of CUJ presided over the programme and Swami Ekarthananda was present as special guest.

Prof. S K Sharma, who is heading the Swami Vivekananda Chair in CUJ, welcomed the guests and explained that 53 universities across had applied for establishment of Swami Vivekanand Chair but CUJ was among the five universities selected and made it functional at shortest possible time. He also highlighted the significant role played by Swami Vivekanand for propagation of Hinduism and made it globally known and accepted. Swami ji introspected humanity in the light of the great global peace and wellbeing of mankind, he said.

Retired Justice GD Sharma highlighted the importance of vedic philosophy and various kinds of Yogas and Yogic kriyas and explained how  Swami ji interpreted Bhagvad Gita in his sermons, giving it a true meaning and made it relevant in the contemporary .

Earlier, in the beginning of the function, Dr. D L Choudhary,  Incharge Yoga Center of CUJ and Prof. N K Tripathi, Head Deptt. of  Animal Science & Wild Life of CUJ, introduced Swami Ekarthanand and Justice G D Sharma respectively.

The programme was compered by Dr. Neelika Arora and also delivered vote of thanks.

Heads of various departments, Faculty, Registrar of the University, staff members, students and scholars attended the programme.
