CRPF may guard the police posts

Tawi, October 18 (KIP):-A situation has come when the police stations

and police guards have to be provided assistance from the paramilitary

forces. After snatching rifles and guns from the police guards, on

duty at the TV tower, and at the police stations during the last two

months a new trend has been set by militants.

The Union Home Ministry functionaries are said to remain in

touch with the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, for final decision

on the ticklish issue. Reports from the intelligence agencies suggest

that at some places police surrender their rifles and guns simply to

ensure their safety. And during the last two months militants have

snatched between 30 and 35 rifles and guns from the police. This is a

serious situation which should gladden the mind and heart of the

Reports said that militants have felt the pinch of shortage of

weapons and ammunition and hence they have started attacking the

police station to make up for the loss of weapons. As far as shortage

of manpower is concerned Pakistani Army and non-state actors were

trying to push groups of militants into Jammu and . Though the

alert Indian troops have so far foiled all ingress bids still

militants in twos and threes manage to sneak into Kashmir and Jammu

under the cover of fire which the Pakistani forces provide by

violating the ceasefire.

Though the Chief Minister,Mehbooba Mufti, has a plan for

withdrawing CRPF from within the valley as soon as the situation

improves but it may take a longer time because separatists are dead

set to keep the level of turmoil alive. Not only that hardliners among

the separatists have started seeking support from militants in getting

their calls for shutdown and rallies enforced.(KIP)
