Jammu, October 02:-JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani and JKPCC Working
President Raman Bhalla in an impressive function held today at Satwari Chowk paid
rich tributes to the great Leader and father of nation Mahatma Gandhi. The
programme was organized by Congress Sewa Dal J&K Chairman Vijay Sharma
Babbi. A large number of party workers assembled at Satwari Chowk and garlanded
the statue of Mahatma Gandhi here today and paid floral tributes to Father of Nation
Mahatma Gandhi and also former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The function
was attended by prominent leaders of PCC, DCC and frontal Organizations . Similar
functions organized at all the district Headquarters of J&K.
Prominent among those who addressed and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and
Lal Bahadur Shastri included Yogesh Sawhney, Manmohan Singh, Kanta Bhan, Indu
Pawar, Hari Singh Chib, Uday Bhanu Chib, Pranav Shagotra, Pawan Raina, Shashi
Sharma, Sanjeev Panda, Sahil Sharma, Gurdarshan Singh, Shahnawaz Choudhary,
Narinder Gupta, Amrit Bali, Satish Sharma.
Those who were present on this occasion included Rajveer Singh, Krishan Lal

Wani said when the sub-continent was burning with human killings, loot, arson and
forced migration of people to and fro to India and Pakistan, Mahatma described the
peace, unity and amity in Kashmir valley as the light from Banihal tunnel for future of
the sub continent. Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri were among shining
jewels in the Indian leadership who were born in India and left a great history and
message for the coming generations. He said Gandhi Ji, a recognizable figure of the
twentieth century propagated and envisaged an idea of India with equal opportunities
for all.
Bhalla in his tributes on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti said that
our leader Rahul Gandhi is walking from Kanyakumari to Kashmir with his "Bharat
Jodo Yatra. This yatra is to unite India as per the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. We
should support the Yatra to ensure India remains one," he said.
Yogesh Sawhney, Manmohan Singh while paying tributes said that the strength of
the nation lies in unity in diversity and the spread of hate amongst the society is
weakening the nation,” they said and added, ‘Congress and its leadership always
promoted religious brotherhood and harmony in the society as Hindu, Muslim, Sikh
unity is very vital for the strength of our pluralistic nation.”
