Six houses, roads damaged, bridge collapses
Srinagar, Aug 07 (KNS): Six residential houses got damaged while several roads and a bridge was collapsed in floods caused by cloudburst that hit Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district during the heavy rains in the wee hours on Sunday.
Locals told KNS that heavy rains lashed the Tral areas during which a cloudburst hit Wantinag area resulted in the heavy floods that led to losses to the properties of the people of several areas including Satoora, Naristan, Gutroo, Bangidar and others.
The locals said that besides property losses to the people, heavy floods damaged roads and a bridge in Aripal village was also collapsed thereby closed all the routes for vehicular movement to enter into the affected villages.
The said that the people mostly youth were rescuing the affected people who have been shifted to the safer places. “Most of the residents in Satoora area have left their homes and are presently in Masjid's in other non-affected areas and in grounds,” locals said.
The flood water has entered into the houses of residents in Satoora and Naristan villages while the people putting their every effort to save the human lives,” they added.
They said that flash water is increasing rapidly while the Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust sent a team of volunteers to rescue the people. “Besides volunteers, some officials from Revenue department also reached to the spot and were reviewing the situation in the villages,” they said.
Reports quoting Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam said there are no deaths. “Road has been washed away at various places and we have sent a JCB to repair the road. Currently we are working around Dharam Gund where some homes are impacted besides the road.” (KNS)
