Bumper salaries for legislators, ministers to take effect today

Srinagar, Sep 26: The state government has amended and Minister and Minister of state salaries Act 1956 to enhance the salaries of legislators.

“The following act as passed by J&K state legislature received the assent of the governor on 08 July 2016 and is here by published for general information,” reads official notification.

According to the amendment, amendment of section 3 Act VI of 1956 in clause (a) of sub section of 3 of the J&K and Minister of State Salaries Act 1956 for the words “45 thousands rupees,” “40 thousand rupees” and “35 thousands rupees” the word “70 thousand rupees,” “65 thousand rupees” and “60 thousand rupees” have been substituted.

“Amendment of section 3, Act XIX of 1960 in sub section (1) of section 3of the salaries and allowance of members of the J&K State Legislator Act 1960 (herein after referred to as the principle act) for the words 35 thousand rupees the word 60 thousand shall be substituted,” it reads.

“Amendment of section 4-A of the principle act. 1 in clause (a) for the words 35 thousand rupees the word 60 thousand shall be substituted. 2 in clause (b) for the words 14 thousand rupees the word 30 thousand shall be substituted. 3 in clause (c) for the words 1 thousand rupees the word 10 thousand shall be substituted,” it adds.

The act as passed by J&K state legislature received the assent of the Governor on 08 July 2016 and is now in force.
