BSF served marching orders, CRPF back

New Delhi: Just within a week of deployment of Border Security Force (BSF) to deal with the prolonged turmoil in the Kashmir valley and to assist the beleaguered and Kashmir police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), BSF is now served fresh marching order to pack up. The CRPF has been asked to take its position back. While no official reason has been provided, sources said that the BSF's presence had upset many quarters in the valley.

This development was confirmed by sources within the BSF as well as Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It was also pointed out that the BSF troopers have already begun moving out of positions they had just taken up. What is not clear is the exact number involved. The BSF was also deployed in the Amarnath yatra was augmented by more numbers and sources say the total deployment away from the border in Jammu and Line of Control in Kashmir ranged in excess of 5000 or over 55 companies of the force. “In the third week of this month, the BSF airlifted nearly 2500 troops as an immediate measure and now this,” said a source.

“You see how insanely such burning issues are being handled. Now 55 BSF companies would be overnight de-inducted. What kind of leadership and example is being set here? Sheer wastage of resources and taxpayers money,” a top official commented on the report.
