After a brief lull, Pak resorts to shelling again on LoC

Date:

Tawi, October 5: After a brief lull on the Line of Control (LoC) Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Sunderbani and Krishna Ghati (KG) sectors on Wednesday.

There are reports of ceasefire violation in Pallanwala sector but the Army did not confirm it.

“Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations in Sunderbani and Krishnagati sectors in Rajouri and Poonch district from 1700 hours and 1730 hours today,” PRO Manish Mehta said.

He informed that firing was continuing and so far there had been no reports any casualty or injury on this side.

Pakistan had resorted to unprovoked firing on LoC at different places yesterday which continued till 11 pm. Locals in Pallanwala alleged to have witnessed firing.

People living close to the LoC have already been shifted to safer places and are staying in camps constituted by administration where they are being given food and other amenities.

Mehta said Pakistan troops shelled mortar bombs and fired from automatic and small weapons.

Indian Army appropriately responded and there were no causalities on this side, he said.

A senior army officer said ceasefire violations have also taken place in Mendhar sector of Poonch and Macchil sector of Kupwara.

There have been eight ceasefire violations since yesterday along LoC.

In wake of the increasing violations, BSF has increased deployment of its troops along IB and technical equipment have been reinforced.

“We have increased the deployment (along IB),” BSF Director General K K Sharma said.
