Jammu Tawi, September 12 : Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today has directed the concerned officers to work in tandem so as to break the nexus created by land grabbers, land mafia while ensuring stringent action against them.
Deputy CM gave these directions while chairing a high level meet to discuss the modalities for early demarcation and handing over of land by revenue department to JDA here at Jammu today.
‘There is an immediate need to start anti encroachment drives for retrieval of encroached land at village Sidhra, Majeen and Rangoora which has been occupied illegally by private players for their vested interests' said Dy CM during the meeting.
Deputy CM called for expediting the pace of work by all the concerned departments for positive results so that various developmental works being executed by JDA are not hampered.
He directed for fast resolving of all those cases where land encroachment has become a major bottleneck due to long drawn issue of land transfer from revenue to JDA.
Reviewing the case of land encroachment at Gole Gujral, Roop Nagar Extn and Sidhra, Nirmal Singh directed for formulation of a strategy to ensure rapid disposal of cases and asked for constituting appraisal committee which will prepare a comprehensive report regarding vacant and encroached JDA land.
He also directed the officers to speed up the process of land acquisition at Gole Gujral, Kot Bhalwal, Roop Nagar Extn., and Birpur for establishment of upcoming colonies at these sites. He further directed DC Jammu to hand over 1000 Kanals at Village Deeli and 226 Kanals at Kot Bhalwal to JDA while ensuring stringent action against land grabbers and local miscreants.
Regarding the issue of providing Police contingent to JDA on a permanent basis, Dy CM said that proposal may be put up for setting up of JDA police station with special powers for dealing with the issue of land grabbing and land encroachment.
He further directed the Revenue department, JDA and Forest Department to maintain their records in such a way that no dispute on the title of the land arises and hence derails the pace of developmental works.
Among others present in the meeting were Commissioner Secretary H&UD department Hirdesh Kumar, Chief Conservator Forest Jammu , Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh, Vice Chairman JDA Mubarak Singh , Commissioner JMC Manmohan Singh, MD JK Housing Board, DIG Ashkoor Wani and SSP Jammu and Samba.
