Police seize bike belonging to one of accused and are making efforts to track down people involved in shooting
Jammu Tawi: A BJP youth leader was shot at following an altercation outside the Power Development Department (PDD) office over a parking issue here on Friday, police said.
Kanav Sharma, the district president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, Jammu, was fired at and suffered a bullet injury. He was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital where he was admitted in emergency ward for urgent medical procedures and his condition is stated to be stable, his father, veteran BJP leader and senior advocate Chander Mohan Sharma said.
Kanav, who has been actively engaged in an anti-drug campaign in Jammu, was parking his vehicle near his house in the new plot area when some miscreants objected to it and an argument broke out.
Speaking to media outside Hospital, Chander Mohan Sharma claimed that a PDD employee fired at his son with a personal pistol and managed to run away from the spot, adding that his son was stable.
“My son parked his car at the PDD Office and some miscreants inside thought that someone came to check on them and they started fighting with him. One of them took out a revolver and fired two rounds, one of which hit Kanav and also managed to flee away,” Sharma said.
He said police have taken some action and started an investigation into the matter.
Police have seized a bike belonging to one of the accused and are making efforts to track down the people involved in the shooting, officials said.
Meanwhile, a police official said that preliminary investigation suggests that the accused is a PDD employee and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab him.
