Bengaluru: A traffic police officer deployed at Bengaluru's Trinity Circle on Saturday not only earned praise and won hearts but also a reward for making way for an ambulance even as a convoy of President Pranab Mukherjee was to pass through the busy junction.

Sub Inspector ML Nijlingappa reportedly spotted an ambulance trying to find a way towards a private hospital near HAL. At that time, the President's convoy was heading towards the Raj Bhavan.

The sub-inspector quickly passed on directions to do the needful and let the ambulance travel through the congested road.

Nijlingappa's act echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's words that `Every Indian is a VIP`.

President Mukherjee was in Bengaluru over the weekend for the inauguration of the Green Line of Namma Metro.

The Bengaluru Police later announced a reward for Nijalingappa.

Praveen Sood, the Commissioner of Police, tweeted, “The policeman who took such initiative to be rewarded. Well done!”

Following this, it didn't take much time for the Twitter and the Facebook, including pages of the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP), to get inundated with appreciation messages for the officer.
