Srinagar, Feb 12: After Union Home Minister Amit Shah held back to back meetings in New Delhi to review J&K security, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high level meeting here to review the security scenario in Kashmir.

The IGP Kashmir also gave a detailed presentation highlighting the challenges and the achievements of the Kashmir Zone and strategic foresight for the future.

“I have asked the senior officials to take strict action against the elements exploiting cyber space to carry out their disruptive activities and disinformation campaign. We must aggressively counter fundamentalist and extremist ideas and take action as per the law,” the Lieutenant Governor added.

The Lieutenant Governor took appraisal of the working of various wings of J&K Police and expressed his satisfaction with regard to the crime related performance indices especially related to UAPA and NDPS.

He said a 360-degree approach against terrorism is critical to enhance the capability and performance in all dimensions of security challenges. The Lieutenant Governor also asked the police officials to strictly follow the policy of property attachment in terror and narco-terror cases.

The Lieutenant Governor directed the officials to devise a result-oriented strategy to identify and neutralize foreign terrorists active in the Kashmir valley. He called for systematic attention to the terror ecosystem, which is providing support to adversarial forces and terrorists.

LG pats JK Police for peaceful polls

The Lieutenant Governor addressed the police officers and appreciated the role of J&K Police for peaceful conduct of general parliamentary elections, Sri Amarnath yatra and assembly polls. NC dismayed over CM’s exclusion from Security Meet

Srinagar, Feb 12: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani expressed strong disappointment on Wednesday over the exclusion of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from a high-level security review meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Police Control Room in Srinagar.

Wani expressed dismay over the LG administration for not extending an invitation to Omar Abdullah, despite his extensive experience in governance and security matters.

Although security affairs fall under the direct jurisdiction of the Lieutenant Governor in the Union Territory, Wani said that the Chief Minister’s inclusion in such meetings would have been both principled and practical.

“This is not the first time the Chief Minister has been overlooked for such critical meetings. While we understand that security is not under the direct purview of the elected government in a Union Territory, Omar Sahib brings invaluable experience to the table. He served as the Chief Minister of a fully empowered state for six years and has a deep understanding of the region’s security dynamics. His participation would have been beneficial for the LG administration itself,” he said.
