Abdullahs brokering on PoJK may backfire for India

Tawi, November 27: While Dr Farooq Abdullah has categorically stated that let Pakistan retain occupied and allow to keep control on Jammu and Kashmir which could settle the Kashmir question, his son, Omar Abdullah emphasized the need for promoting cross border trade which could promote confidence among the people of the divided state.  Dr Farooq Abdullah referring to the Parliament resolution of 1994 has said it was not  within the powers and strength to annex Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The father and son seem to have been stressing the need for resolving the Kashmir issue through talks
but the two have possibly ignored that India has conveyed to Pakistan that it was prepared to hold talks with Pakistan but first of all Pakistan should stop  export  of terror to India. The Abdullahs while enjoying the perks and privileges here in India, their loyalty on Pakistan's position raises many accusing finger on the duo even on their integrity, being out of power. Such irresponsible utterance may weaken Indian position on PoJK as endorsed by the Indian Parliament particularly when both father and son were known associates of national main stream .

Amid escalation of border tension between India and Pakistan, which has resulted in military and civilian casualties on both sides, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Omar Abdullah has urged Government of India to look beyond the politics in the cross-Line of
Control trade as it posed no threat to the two countries. While releasing a report “Trading Confidence- A compelling case for LoC trade”, Omar said cross-LoC trade is one of the most successful Confidence Building Measures (CBM) that Jammu and Kashmir has had in the past eight years.“This trade was born out of tragedy. It was the product of 2008 summer agitation when Muzaffarabad Chalo call was given to end the economic blockade of the valley. LoC trade was started in order to bring down the tempers of people and improve the economic status of the state,”
    Omar said. (KIP)
