Srinagar Police Attach Assets Worth Over ₹4 Crore in Anti-Drug Drive

SRINAGAR, June 5: Srinagar Police on Friday attached immovable and movable properties worth more than ₹4 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in separate actions targeting assets allegedly linked to narcotics trafficking.

The attachments were carried out by Police Stations Lal Bazar and Khanayar as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign across Jammu and Kashmir aimed at dismantling the financial networks supporting the narcotics trade.

In a major action, Police Station Lal Bazar attached a double-storey residential house built on nine marlas of land belonging to Aadil Ahmad Dhobi of Sikh Bagh, Lal Bazar. A Swift Dzire car bearing registration number JK01U-0980 linked to the accused was also attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 05/2026 registered under Sections 8/22 and 29 of the Act.

In another case, Lal Bazar Police attached a Santro vehicle bearing registration number DL4CAP-6047 belonging to Arshid Ahmad Sheikh of Haka Bazar in connection with FIR No. 50/2025 registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

Separately, Police Station Khanayar attached a double-storey residential house along with 12 marlas of land valued at around ₹2 crore belonging to Owais Hussain Mir of Tangbagh, Khanayar. The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 12/2024 registered under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

Police said the property was identified during investigation as an illegally acquired asset allegedly generated through proceeds of narcotics trafficking. The attachment was executed after completing legal formalities under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

According to officials, the cumulative value of the attached properties and vehicles exceeds ₹4 crore, making it one of the significant asset-attachment operations carried out in recent months.

Police said such measures are intended to weaken the financial infrastructure of drug networks by depriving offenders of assets allegedly acquired through illegal activities. Srinagar Police also urged the public to share credible information on narcotics trafficking and substance abuse with law enforcement agencies. (Agencies)
