NEW DELHI, Jun 3: President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident in Gujarat’s Surat district that claimed eight lives and left more than 15 people injured.
The accident occurred near Bardoli town when two Maharashtra State Road Transport buses collided. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
President Murmu conveyed her condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the mishap.
Vice President Radhakrishnan also expressed sorrow over the tragedy, praying for strength and courage for the families of the deceased and wishing the injured a quick recovery.
Prime Minister Modi offered condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the accident. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased.
The Prime Minister further announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 for each injured person.
