J&K: Anti-Terror ‘Op Sheruwali’ Enters 12th Day in Rajouri Forests

RAJOURI, Jun 3: A joint anti-terror operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) entered its twelfth day on Wednesday in the forested areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in Rajouri district’s Manjakote sector.

Security forces continued extensive search operations to track down suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the region. Personnel were also seen checking identity cards of travellers and local residents as part of heightened security measures.

The operation, codenamed “Operation Sheruwali”, was launched following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of suspected militants in the area.

Officials said the objective is to keep the suspected terrorists confined within the designated zone while search teams comb the dense forests and difficult terrain.

The challenging topography and thick vegetation have made the operation complex, prompting security forces to proceed cautiously while maintaining round-the-clock surveillance. Agencies are deploying all available resources to monitor terrorist movement and neutralise any threat.

The area remains under a heightened security grid, with access to sensitive locations closely monitored. Officials said the operation would continue until the entire area is sanitised and all security concerns are addressed. (Agencies)
