Jammu Tawi, Mar 1: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday urged all sections of society to remain vigilant against elements attempting to radicalise youth and sustain the terror ecosystem.
He also emphasised meritocracy and called for collective efforts to realise a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
“The number of stakeholders in peace has grown significantly over the last few years, with a vast majority of the population now prioritising stability and prosperity. Today, J-K has emerged as a top performer in national integration programmes like Vande Mataram. Those dreaming of disrupting this progress must wake up to the new reality,” Sinha said while addressing an ‘Atma-Nirbhar Bharat’ event organised by the Federation of Trade and Industry of India (FTII).
The Lt Governor felicitated recipients of the Vyapar Ratan Awards for their notable contributions.
“Every section of society must stay alert against forces trying to radicalise youth and keep the terror ecosystem alive,” he said.
Highlighting transformative initiatives in villages and towns aimed at improving ease of living and ease of doing business, Sinha reiterated his resolve to develop Jammu and Kashmir into a strong market-driven economy.
“The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) now anchor J-K’s economy. We have created fresh opportunities for youth and women by launching thousands of small and micro manufacturing units that support families, strengthen society and are shaping the region’s business landscape,” he said.
Referring to the abrogation of Article 370, Sinha said that after the historic shift in 2019, significant strides were made in industrial growth and MSMEs.
“The new industrial policy has positioned the Union Territory among the most preferred investment destinations in the country,” he said, underscoring the need for rapid economic growth and technology-driven solutions to ensure transparency and a corruption-free system.
He also outlined three guiding principles to strengthen the ‘Made in India’ and ‘Atma-Nirbhar Bharat’ initiatives — Quality, Innovation and Reliability — stressing that these should define the new identity of domestic manufacturing.
